Conflict and Compassion - Hope for a World in Turmoil

By Orpheus Project (other events)

2 Dates Through Feb 18, 2024

ABOUT ABOUT

Orpheus Project presents a production designed to address the growing sense of dread many people feel with the continued escalation of violence and war around the globe. The program is called Conflict and Compassion - Hope for a World in Turmoil.

William Todd Hunt will conduct members of the Amalga Chamber Orchestra, performing music by composers such as J.S. Bach, Philip Glass, Toru Takemitsu, and a newly commissioned piece for this performance. Orpheus Project is pleased to welcome back choreographer Hali Duran, projectionist Greg Mitchell, and lighting designer Mike Inwood to contribute these essential artistic components of the production.

“When faced with the task of filling this hole in our season, I asked myself ‘What does the world need most right now?’ After the recent outbreak of war in the Holy Land, the continuing conflict in Ukraine, and so many other atrocities around the world, I feel now is the time to bring this performance to audiences in Juneau.” - William Todd Hunt, Artistic Director
